I have just finished this lovely cross stitch design from the book "A Stitcher's Journey" by Blackbird Designs.
I have always loved cross stitch but never found much time. This book inspired me to make this lovely sampler which I will frame as a gift for a friend. She happens to have a beach house and a group of us spend a week there sewing at least once a year.
The book also has a number of small designs which are quick to make and very pretty.
I used prairie cloth as the base cloth (also a fabric from the Blackbird Design ladies). I have had five colours in stock for some time now and have only just used it for cross stitch. It is much softer than even weave linen (and cheaper) and stitches beautifully.
And speaking of Blackbird Designs, this is their new fabric range Blueberry Crumb Cake. The pre-cuts have just arrived and the full range of fabric is due in November.
It is a stunning range of blues and browns and contains their signature sampler prints.
